We’ve all heard of the notorious
Freshman 15, but trust me, there’s nothing to worry about as long as your adopt
healthy habits early on in your collegiate career. Here are five of my tips for staying fit
while still having an amazing time:
Workout before
class
Waking
up early can be hard, especially in college, but if you’re one of the lucky
ones and start classes later in the day, squeeze in a workout in A.M. You’re
able to get it out the way and you’ll feel much more energized for the rest of
your day!
Carry protein
bars or a piece of fruit in your bag
Sitting
in class can get super awkward with a growling stomach…trust me, I’ve been
there. By always having a snack handy, you’re saving yourself from an unhealthy
dining hall binge and allowing yourself the chance to actually focus on the
class and NOT your vocal tummy.
Limit drinking
to 1-2 nights a week
Avoiding
alcohol in college is almost impossible, but just because it’s available
doesn’t mean you have to indulge every time. Alcohol is heavy in calories and
don’t even get me started on how much sugar is in those mixers…You don’t have
to miss out on the fun, but just be responsible!
Don’t adopt
your friend’s eating habits
Being
surrounded by pizza and Chinese can be extremely tempting when your friends
always have it around, but stay strong! Bring your own food to group hangouts
or if that’s not an option, order one of the healthy options on the menu.
Drink a ton of
water
This
is super important. Staying hydrated not only helps fight off the fatigue from
late nights doing homework…or partying, but it helps keep your skin clear. Now
who doesn’t want clear skin??
