Fashion Feature| Abby

Hi I'm Abby, I'm a 17 year old girl from Minnesota who loves all things fashion. Ironically I don't know how my love of clothes and shopping started since my mom hates shopping. I remember always begging my mom to take me shopping and always being attracted to dresses and girly things. Nothing's really changed since then (Lol). I believe your personal style really shows who you are as a person and sets you apart from others. I know it sounds cliché but you can really express yourself by what you wear.
I use Instagram to showcase my style and I'm so thankful I started posting pictures because I've met so many lovely people (like Sarah for example!). I hope to be successful in the industry. I've decided to major in fashion marketing and also attempt design. My dream job would to be a buyer for a company like Kate Spade in New York City.

1. What are your favorite places to shop?

My favorite places to shop are definitely Francesca's Collection, ShopRuche, local boutiques (like Lillian's and A Wreath Of Franklin) and vintage shops (my favorite is Lula Vintage, if you're ever in Minnesota definitely make a stop).

2. If you could have anybody's closet, who would it be?

If I could have anyone's closet it probably would be Audrey Hepburn. Her style is so elegant and classy, it has a simple and feminine touch to it which I adore. I would also love Blair Waldorf's because her style is fabulous.

3. What is your "go-to" fashion piece?

My "go-to" fashion piece would probably be dresses or collars to be honest. Dresses make me feel so happy and girly; I never get tired of them. Also I just love collars and I think they make everything look cuter and more put together. I have two vintage peter pan collars that you can just clip around your neck and they're absolutely adorable.

4. Based on the fashion, if you could live in any era [or any place] which one would it be?

Definitely the fifties! The tea length dresses and full skirts back then were so stunning. I wish people still dressed like that.

5. Fashion advice or favorite fashion quote?

A fashion quote I love is, "Life's a party, dress like it," By Lilly Pulitzer. I think it's so true. You only live once so do it with impeccable style.

6. How would you [or others] describe your personal style?

I would describe my style as: girly, classy, vintage, and shabby-chic.

7. What do you like/love most about this site?

I love Sarah's website and Instagram because one she has a similar style to mine (very girly and vintage inspired) and also because there's a lot of good beauty tips.

Natural Hair Feature| Shanelle

Meet Shanelle! She's a fashion merchandising major born in Boston, MA. She loves anything that allows her to be creative. She's also a lyrical dancer and a lover of drawing and old school music.

1.Why did you go natural? Or why are you natural?
My aunt and I, who everyone calls my "train" decided to go natural together because perms were damaging our hair and it seemed harder if I didn't do it with someone else.
2. What is your go-to hairstyle?
I love the flat twist with a Bantu knot at the end, the big messy bun and my saver, the wash 'n' go!
3. Do you have any hair crushes?
I always say I have a reincarnated originality! I'm an old soul. I love Lauryn hill and Solange Knowles 'fros.
4. What are your top 5 favorite hair products?
I can't live without coconut oil, Shea Moisture Black Soap Shampoo, Thickening Shea Moisture Leave-in Conditioner, and lastly I make an avocado and tree oil mix as a deep conditioner.
5. What is the best part of having natural hair?
I love being natural! I have endless amounts of things I can try and be versatile with when it comes to my hair.
6. What is the worst part of having natural hair?
You know sometimes you just wanna go to sleep but you'll regret it in the morning because you'll just look crazy so you take the time as much as you don't want to do your hair.
7. What advice would you give people who are natural or who want to be?
Oh my gosh, do it! You have to have patience and truly want it! Your going to go through phases but at the end your going to have healthy and beautiful hair!
8. What do you like/love most about this site?
It’s  relatable and unique. It's super cute and can work with all types of natural! I love the adorable tips and fashion ideas, I'm always looking for more.

Celebrity Inspired Hairstyles

When I have box braids or twists it usually turns into an art project. I'm constantly trying new styles and being inspired by woven baskets to actual people. I think that the hair on your head is something you should enjoy, love and have fun with. Use some of these ideas to spice up your braids/twist looks. They're even great when you're having bad hair days!

Take a small section from the front of your hair and save it for later. Split your hair into two sections. Take the top half and secure it in a ponytail with a scrunchie. Position the ponytail a little to the side for a more authentic look. Ariana-fy the hairstyle by adding a ribbon or bow.

Split your hair into two sections. Secure each section with a scrunchie resulting in two high ponytails. Wrap each section around itself until it becomes a bun.

Gather your hair into a high ponytail at the front of your hair. Section your hair by securing the bottom half with a scrunchie. Begin to roll your hair underneath. Pin any areas where it is needed.

I know that following descriptions can be fairly hard. It's pretty hard to describe how I do these styles. I promise to re-do these hairstyles on my YouTube channel.
