Easy & Quick Watermelon Juice

All not in favor of it getting more hot and humid say I. When I say I am struggling to find fresh air to breathe, I am not even joking. I mean I love getting to experience all four seasons but New York summers can be too much. Don’t even get me started on the hot Subways and the fact that some people forget to deodorize. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with making juices and after taking a trip to a new fav café in Bushwick, Brooklyn I decided to make my own watermelon juice. This is perfect if you want a refreshing drink but you don’t want to cut up and prepare a whole bunch of ingredients.

What You’ll Need:
Blender
Masher (If you don’t have a blender)
Watermelon
Honey (optional)
Water

With Blender:
1.     Put contents into blender and blend until smooth. Serve chilled with ice, snap photos for Instagram and tag me!

Without Blender:
1.     Add a little water and watermelon to a deep dish bowl and mash with a masher or spoon until watermelon pieces are very small.
2.     Add honey or other natural sweetener

3.     Pour into a cup and tweet me!

Quick DIY Almond Milk in [No Nut Bag or Cheese Cloth]

After watching HeyFranHey’s DIY Almond Milk video I knew I had to try it out. I’m not new to the world of non-daily milk as I absolutely hate milk from cows and from what my mom says, I always have. I’m not allergic or anything but I don’t like the taste plus they put hormones in a lot of them and I’m not about that life. I’ve always been drawn to the rice, soy and almond milk. My friend and photographer, Jalessa brought a huge back of almonds so I knew what must be done. A lot of store almond milks contain a ton of extra stuff that spike up sugar and calorie levels; it doesn’t bother me much but if there’s a healthier and cheaper option – I’m all for it. Most recipes required multiple days of preparation and a nut/cheese bag but this recipe doesn't need it. Instead we'll use something most you probably already have or can get for $2 or less.

What You’ll Need:
Almonds (I used the equivalent of two glasses)
Water (Enough to slightly cover the cups of almonds)
Sweetener (optional)
Mesh Sieve
Blender
Nut/Cheese Bag (or Nylon stocking)

1.     Bring water to a boil. Make sure the water is enough to slightly cover the almonds.
2.     Put almonds in boiling water for 1 – 2 hours and cover the pot to keep the heat in. If the water starts to cool down, put the heat on low or medium until it boils again then turn it off.
3.     Strain almonds with sieve and put almonds into blender with enough water to cover the almonds (don’t pass the capacity on your blender – if you have to blend more than once, it’s okay)
4.     Once blended into more of a liquid put the stocking into a deep bowl and stretch the stocking to cover the opening of the blender (if the mouth of your blender is too big don’t stretch it too much or it’ll break. I used a Nutribullet so it covered perfectly). Pour everything down the stocking that is still in the bowl.
5.     If it hasn’t already, the milk will start to seep through but you should also squeeze lightly to get more of it out. You can throw away the mashed almonds or use it for another recipe or beauty DIY.
6.     Continue this process until you’ve used all your almonds
7.     Refrigerate and enjoy!

Total Time: 2 – 3 hours // Creates: 2 Pints (Mason Jars)

*I like my milk sweet so I added one teaspoon of organic brown sugar* I do recommend only using it within 7 days but now that you know how to make it you can make it every week for your cereal, granola, coffee or ice cream! Let me know if you make it by clicking my links below*

Quick & Easy S'mores Cupcakes

Bake with me! I've been really into baking lately and my latest recipe is for..... S'MORES CUPCAKES! I was feeling a bit lazy (and cheap) so I used premade cake mix instead of making it from scratch but I hope you like it!

Betty Crocker Super Moist Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix

Marshmallows
Frosting of Your Choice
Graham Crackers (Optional)

Directions

1. Mix cake mix ingredients as directed on the back of the box

3. Put marshmallow in the center of the mix
4. Cook according to time on the back of the box
5. When the marshmallow has melted, take more cake mix to cover the top
6. Continue to bake in oven (use the toothpick method to check if they're done)
7. Let your cupcakes cool down and frost
8. Roast a marshmallow and add to the top of the cupcake for decor
9. You can also add crumbled graham crackers to the top
10. Enjoy & send me pics on social media

Trader Joe's Beauty & Food Haul

Oh dear, I just love Trader Joe’s so much! I mean the taste, the quality and the prices – it doesn’t get much better. As I am packing to go back to school (a new school I might add) I’ve been dying to grab some infamous Trader Joe’s products. I don’t really like watching or doing hauls (so don't expect them) but I can watch Trader Joe’s hauls all day long (no, not really but you catch my drift).

I recently watched Tara E (on YouTube) and spoke about how she liked the tee tree cleanser. I’ve been using the Tee Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash from The BodyShop. It works well but it’s something I would need to keep buying and quite frankly I don’t have the money. I have read reviews about it being strong but most people said you should only use a little bit.

My friend Josh told me that they’re really good and I love anything mango. How could I go to Trader Joe’s and not buy their Cookie Butter? I mean, everyone raves about it. I couldn’t wait to try it! I pretty much stuck my [clean] finger in there and scooped it out. It’s so yummy! It does have a hint of ginger and it’s sweet. So far, I’ve only had it on a cupcake (sugar overload!) but it says you can put it on other pastries, waffles, pancakes, etc.

The tea lover strikes again! I feel like I should do tea reviews or something. At $1.99 I decided to try the Mango Black Tea. I’ve only used one bag – for the past 3 days. I mean, most people tend to throw away tea bags after the first use but you can reuse them until the flavor isn’t strong anymore. I love how I didn't have to add any honey but I might do so next time because Black tea is pretty strong. You can still taste [and smell] the mango though.

The Salted Caramel Chair Tea Mix smelled delightful. Of course I felt basic as heck because I swear everyone has to have Chai during the winter but whatevs. The best part is all you add is water because it comes in a powder form. It’s the normal salty/sweet taste that every salted caramel product tastes like. I think I’d like to try it with vanilla soy milk for a sweeter taste.

Tara E. mentioned using jojoba oil as a makeup remover (I use oil to remove my makeup as well) but I want to use it for my hair. Use it to take down my twists, add in Shea butter or use by itself as a sealant.

Cold-pressed coconut oil is the same but you can’t beat this price! The co-op near my house retails this at $10.99 so I couldn’t beat the $5.99 price at TJ.

What kind of naturalista would I be if I didn’t pick these up? Whitney raved about it and I’ve wanted to try it ever since. I bought two bottles of conditioner because one was not enough. I also picked out the shampoo. I’ll definitely review it when I try it out!

What are your fav things from TraderJoe’s?

Birthday Cake Milkshake from Emelyne

As you already know, I'm totally obsessed with YouTube. I was watching Gabi DeMartino's (nikiandgabibeauty) video and she mentioned how much she loved Sweet Emelyne's videos. Of course I checked it out - and I loved it too! She has the sweetest recipes from cupcakes to frosting techniques. She is also very girly and vintage which is right up my alley. I decided to try out her birthday cake recipe and thought I'd share it with you.

Ingredients & Tools:

Cute Bottle or Mason Jar (I used an old Starbucks Frappuccino bottle)

2 Cups of Milk (I used Silk Vanilla Soy Milk)

1 Cup of Vanilla Ice Cream

1/2 Cup of Vanilla Cake Mix

Vanilla Frosting (Optional)

Sprinkles (Optional)

Directions

1. Pour contents into blender or mixer. You can also pour it into a bowl and stir manually.

2. Take the frosting and spread it across the tip of your bottle. Place sprinkles all over for a cute touch.

3. Pour your milkshake into the bottle.

4. Tie a bow if you plan on serving this to your friends or guests.

This was such a sweet treat. It also helped that the packaging was so adorable. Tag me on social media so I can see your milkshakes. Here is Emelyne's video. Be sure to stay updated with me by clicking the links below.

Quick & Easy Vegetarian Carrot Burgers + Low Calorie Sauce!

Yesterday I made this delicious vegetarian meal. I’ve been craving burgers lately but I didn’t have any meat. I did have breadcrumbs and carrots so I decided to whip something up. I promise that these burgers were so yummy and fulfilling. I’m totally on board for veggie burgers – who is with me!?

You Will Need:

4 Boiled & Mashed Carrots
1 Whisked Egg
½ Peeled & Diced Garlic
½ Diced Onions
1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil
3 Tablespoons of Mayonnaise
1 Cup of Breadcrumbs
Seasonings (Sea Salt, Ground Black Pepper, & Oregano)

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

2. First create a mixture with the egg, garlic, onion, seasonings, mayo and olive oil. Stir. Add the carrots and the breadcrumbs. Stir until mixture is evenly distributed.

3. Shape into however many patties you would like. I created 4 mini patties. Coat an aluminum pan with butter, oil or cooking spray and place the patties on top. Leave at least 1 inch between each patty.

4. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until you start to hear a sizzling sound.

Low Calorie Greek Yogurt Sauce

You Will Need:

½ Cup of Plain Greek Yogurt
Seasonings (Thyme, Pinch of Seal Salt & Ground Black Pepper)

1. Mix the seasonings with the yogurt and refrigerate until ready to use on burgers. Also a great option for chip and/or veggie dip!

Disclaimer: I used eye measurements for both recipes but the measurements mentioned above are nearly the same as what I did initially. The outcome of your burger outcome can be different from mine depending on how you interpreted the directions.
