Hello, my name is Imani Tynes. I am 17 and from sunny California. I would describe myself as being imaginative, optimistic, and a hopeless romantic. I would love to travel and see the world. I love coffee, fashion, Disney, French (I want to learn), the holidays, flowers and chocolate. Over the years I realized that I am kind of an old soul. I love old movies, I’m obsessed with old cars, I have more records then I have CDs, I admire Audrey Hepburn, and Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald are my favorite artist.

1. What are your favorite places to shop?
Oh how I would love to say something glamorous but no, I would have to say that my favorite places to shop at Thrift Stores. There’s like hidden jewels were you can find nice clothing when you're on a budget or even if you're not. Thrift stores are full of really nice new and old things.

2. If you could have anybody's closet, who would it be?
If I could have anyone's closet I would have to choose Kate Middleton, from casual style to royal parties, she is very elegant, feminine, and classy. She is a Princess so I’m sure she has dresses that are just to die for.

3. What is your "go-to" fashion piece?
My go-to fashion piece is a dress. Dresses are very feminine and classy. You can easily dress them up or down.

4. Based on the fashion, if you could live in any era [or any place] which one would it be?
Based on the fashion if I could live in any ear I would choose the 1950s. It was one of the greatest times in fashion for women and men. It was so glamourous and dapper. Everything was so elegant. The women with their gloves and the men with their suits. It was a very dreamy and romantic time.

5. Fashion advice or favorite fashion quote?
Wear what compliments you.

6. How would you [or others] describe your personal style?
I would describe my personal style as classic, feminine, and simple. Some days it’s very Audrey and others days it’s a plain top, jeans, flats and pearls.

7. What do you like/love most about this site?
What I love most about this site is that it is full of great tips and, it shows African American girls how to embrace their natural hair and ways to style it. And speaking as an African-American girl I know that it is hard to style my hair and also feel confident with it. So it’s good to have sites like this. Plus it’s very fun and girly.

Fashion Feature| Abby

Hi I'm Abby, I'm a 17 year old girl from Minnesota who loves all things fashion. Ironically I don't know how my love of clothes and shopping started since my mom hates shopping. I remember always begging my mom to take me shopping and always being attracted to dresses and girly things. Nothing's really changed since then (Lol). I believe your personal style really shows who you are as a person and sets you apart from others. I know it sounds cliché but you can really express yourself by what you wear.
I use Instagram to showcase my style and I'm so thankful I started posting pictures because I've met so many lovely people (like Sarah for example!). I hope to be successful in the industry. I've decided to major in fashion marketing and also attempt design. My dream job would to be a buyer for a company like Kate Spade in New York City.

1. What are your favorite places to shop?

My favorite places to shop are definitely Francesca's Collection, ShopRuche, local boutiques (like Lillian's and A Wreath Of Franklin) and vintage shops (my favorite is Lula Vintage, if you're ever in Minnesota definitely make a stop).

2. If you could have anybody's closet, who would it be?

If I could have anyone's closet it probably would be Audrey Hepburn. Her style is so elegant and classy, it has a simple and feminine touch to it which I adore. I would also love Blair Waldorf's because her style is fabulous.

3. What is your "go-to" fashion piece?

My "go-to" fashion piece would probably be dresses or collars to be honest. Dresses make me feel so happy and girly; I never get tired of them. Also I just love collars and I think they make everything look cuter and more put together. I have two vintage peter pan collars that you can just clip around your neck and they're absolutely adorable.

4. Based on the fashion, if you could live in any era [or any place] which one would it be?

Definitely the fifties! The tea length dresses and full skirts back then were so stunning. I wish people still dressed like that.

5. Fashion advice or favorite fashion quote?

A fashion quote I love is, "Life's a party, dress like it," By Lilly Pulitzer. I think it's so true. You only live once so do it with impeccable style.

6. How would you [or others] describe your personal style?

I would describe my style as: girly, classy, vintage, and shabby-chic.

7. What do you like/love most about this site?

I love Sarah's website and Instagram because one she has a similar style to mine (very girly and vintage inspired) and also because there's a lot of good beauty tips.

Women: The Future Sluts of Tomorrow

I watched a channel called Whatever. Being open to all categories of YouTube videos (appropriate for my eyes of course) I decided to take a look. I settled on a social experiment video called “Asking 100 Girls for Sex.”

The entire purpose of the video was to see how many ladies would agree to have sex with a random guy. Ultimately not one girl out of the 100 said yes. Some were highly confused, taken back or offended to the point of throwing a drink in the guys’ face. I know that if I was in that situation, I would be highly disgusted and quite confused. My first thought would be: PREDETOR (I’m sure you’re going to be on Dateline) ALERT!

The guy was not straight forward. You would have never known what was coming. He started the conversation casually asking how the girls were. A normal girl would have thought that he was going to ask for their number. But no, this was no regular “picking up girls” moment - it was a social experiment that was being recorded by someone behind a camera across the street. He then proceeded to ask for sex. Every time, the answer resulted in a flat out no. There was a prequel where the situation was reversed. Now it was a girls’ turn to ask random guys for sex. Shocker here, most of the guys said yes. They were more than eager to “tap that.”

I got to thinking: How are females the so-called sluts if guys are the ones who are ready to jump on the chance for free sex? According to Google a slut is a slovenly or promiscuous woman. Now let’s look up “promiscuous.” According to Google, promiscuous means a person who has many sexual relationships. *pause* Are females the only human species on earth that are promiscuous? We both know the answer to that question. A guy can go out and fool around (and be promiscuous) with whoever and come back to a sea of high fives and kudos. The minute a woman decides she wants to express her sexuality she is faced with rejection, a personalized definition of herself on the internet and ultimately slut-shaming. In some countries a woman can experience things like being disowned to being publicly stoned or humiliated.

Of course not all guys and gals are like this or think this way but it’s quite unfortunate that we live in a world of double standards. We’re still fighting for our right to express ourselves. I don’t think it is okay that our society promotes hypocrisy. We say it is okay to sleep around-but only for guys. We constantly remind a girl that she is considered a whore even if she shows the least bit of cleavage. Yet, a guy can walk around all day without a shirt on and not be critiqued. What if I wanted to feel the breeze too?

Bottom line is, don’t feel the need to hide your sexuality or who you are. And to all the people who feel the need to judge someone else by what they do or what they wear ask yourself this: Am I perfect?
